September 2021 – On July 2, Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards (D) signed House Bill 578, a bill requiring abortion providers to inform women considering chemical abortions that the process can be reversed if acted upon quickly.
“This is great news,” Benjamin Clapper, Louisiana Right to Life executive director, said. “This is another step that can help these women who regret their abortion, who’ve taken the first chemical pill. …”
Clapper said the requirement would give women hope and inform them that “this option is out there,” allowing them “to reverse their abortion.”
The new law is expected to go into effect August 1.
