June 2021 – In mid-March Israel Antiquities Authority announced the discovery of more than 80 Dead Sea Scroll fragments in a cave at Nahal Hever near Qumran in Israel’s Judean Desert. The newest findings are the first scrolls discovered since the noted Dead Sea Scrolls were unearthed 60 years ago.

A few reconstructed lines are from the Old Testament books of Zechariah and Nahum. Other artifacts and coins found with the scrolls indicate they were left there when Jewish rebels were fleeing from the Romans about A.D. 132-136.
