April 2021 – In January, Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear (D) vetoed six pro-life bills, but he declined to take action on Senate Bill 9, requiring any “physician performing an abortion” to “take all medically appropriate and reasonable steps to preserve the life and health of a born-alive infant.”

Beshear had been expected to veto the born-alive bill, but after 10 days passed without a veto or signature, it officially became law in late January.

During that 10-day waiting period, North Carolina’s newly elected Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson (R) spoke at the January 16 Rally and March for Life in Raleigh, North Carolina. He assured the crowd, “There is no greater mission on earth than standing up for the most defenseless among us. We cannot say … that Black lives matter or all lives matter or blue lives matter until we say unborn lives matter because that is where it all starts.”

Robinson is North Carolina’s first Black man to be elected lieutenant governor. He urged march participants to ignore criticism they face when expressing their faith and speaking out for life.
