April 2021 – On January 27, 2021, the U.S. Conference of Mayors (USCM) and the American Jewish Committee (AJC) announced a national campaign against antisemitism. The project, Mayors United Against Antisemitism, offers mayors across the nation an opportunity to sign a declaration that acknowledges the fundamental incompatibility of antisemitism with America’s core values.
Citing a significant rise in hate crimes directed at Jews, Tom Cochran, CEO and executive director of USCM, said, “[T]he statement we are inviting mayors to sign today provides a way for them to register their opposition to the dramatic increase in antisemitism we have experienced in our country and work together to reverse it.”
